Santiago Moreno, new president of Avante

The CEO of the Fundación Vodafone España, Santiago Moreno, will chair the Organising Committee of Avante dedicated to personal autonomy and quality of life, which will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of June in Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition centre. He is taking up the position with the aim of contributing his knowledge and experience acquired at the head of an organisation that promotes research into new technological solutions in order to aid the integration of more vulnerable groups.

A Telecommunications Engineer, Santiago Moreno has worked his entire professional career in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ITCs). He participated in the process of liberating the telecommunications market, forming part of important projects, such as the Santader-BT and Airtel-Reditel-Sistelcom alliances, and has also been a collaborator of the Red.es chair of the Grupo de Regulación de las Telecomunicaciones (GRETEL).

Since 2009, he has been the CEO of the Fundación Vodafone España, non-profit organisation which, among other objectives, promotes the development of new technological solutions in benefit to society, above all elderly, dependent and disabled persons.

With this experience, Santiago Moreno is assuming the chairmanship of Avante’s Organising Committee with optimism and with the aim of contributing to its consolidation as a benchmark showcase for all new technological products and services applied to socio-health and domestic spheres.

According to Moreno, the show represents a “sector with great growth potential, since it has maintained its high level of technological innovation despite the difficult economic climate”. He also believes that there will be an increased demand in Spain for this type of solutions to cover the needs a population with the highest ageing rate in Europe.

The Fundación Vodafone is part of the Vodafone Group, the world’s leading mobile phone company with a presence in 31 countries and agreements with 40 others in the five continents. It has 323 million clients, 17 million of which subscribe to Vodafone España.
