The most innovative technological solutions for improving personal autonomy at Avante 2010
Publication date: 22nd February, 2010
The best international initiatives for dependency and disability will be exhibited
Innovation and new technologies will again be highlighted at the second edition of Avante, which will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of June in the Gran Via exhibition centre. With the collaboration of the sector’s main international associations, this year’s show will present the most advanced solutions which are being developed in Europe to improve the autonomy and quality of life of dependent and disabled persons.
Avante is preparing its second show with the aim of becoming established as one of Europe’s reference points for technological innovation. It will show professionals, and users and their families the latest in support technologies, accessibility, care and specialist services, design and socio-health applications.
This year’s show will also host an exhibition of the most innovative solutions being researched in Europe, previously selected by a scientific committee of the European Commission, and will also showcase highly technological prototypes. The exhibition will be located in the R&D&I Area, which will bring together companies, research centres and universities with the aim of promoting new development projects and, through different workshops and conferences, analysing the latest applications and functions in the health, care and domestic fields.
Another main attraction of this edition will be Hogar Avante, an apartment adapted and equipped with products and new technologies which are aimed at improving autonomy and quality of life of children and their families in a situation of dependency and disability. This project is sponsored by the hearing centre GAES and the orthopaedic technical aid company, RehaGirona.
With the backing of the leading international associations
According to the show’s director, Josep Antoni Llopart, “our aim is to establish the show as an important driver of the economic development of sectors related to improving personal autonomy and quality of life and, furthermore, to become a benchmark platform for technological innovations. For this reason, we wish to promote company cooperation and exchange of know-how”.
Avante already has the support of important bodies and associations, such as the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE); Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA); Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA); Rehabilitation Engineering Society of Japan (RESJA); Japan Assistive Products Association (JASPA); y Austrian Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Association (ARATA).
Integral exhibits
Exhibits at Avante 2010, which is sponsored by the ONCE Foundation and Vodafone, will again be divided into five major sectors: technological solutions and innovations; care and specialist services; home and family, with products and equipment for improving autonomy, safety and quality of life at home; urban accessibility and mobility, with proposals to create unlimited, accessible and more comfortable surroundings; and life, society and company, with bodies which promote equal opportunities.
The show will also host important workshops and congresses aimed at health professionals, scientists, socio-health personnel, administration officers, investors and other groups involved in this field. At the moment, the organisers are working on the preparation of a complete programme of conferences in which international experts will be participating.
